Why the Air Fryer Wins for Restaurant Copycats

An air fryer is essentially a small convection oven. The fan circulates hot air around the food at high speed, which crisps the exterior in a way that a regular oven cannot match. For breaded items – nuggets, egg rolls, mac and cheese balls – this means you get nearly identical results to deep frying using just a spritz of cooking spray instead of a quart of oil. The cleanup difference alone makes air frying the better default method for most fried restaurant copycats.
